The 2009 Toyota Prius arrives!
This is another year of the trendsetter. The Toyota Prius lives up to its name, which in Latin means "to go before". That is exactly what it does –it goes ahead of its competitors by ages.
When most of its competitors are yet to even come out with a gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle, Toyota is so ahead that the Prius is in its second generation.
This is the ideal vehicle for those who value their dollar. When its economy is in the range of 45 mpg in standard city driving conditions, is there a better reason to choose this? It is economical in other senses, too. Be it the fuel economy; buying cost or maintenance costs, there is no better alternative than the Prius. Nothing is compromised in the process. You get the same driving comfort and features that you get on a regular sedan. It has fewer emissions than the regular vehicle, though.
The 2009 model retains most of what it had in 2008. Both the available trims, the Prius and Touring come with a well-tuned 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder hybrid engine that can give a healthy output of 67 horsepower on the electric motor and 76 hp on the gas engine.
The two trims come with a host of exterior features.15-inch, six-spoke alloy wheels are given for the Prius, while the Touring gets 16-inch, seven-spoke wheels. Other standard exterior features for the two trims include dual color-keyed power outside mirrors; variable intermittent windshield wipers; chrome-type finish grille; rear window defogger and electronic rear hatch locking system.
For the interiors, it gets a sophisticated display; remote keyless entry; AM/FM CD with six speakers; tilt steering wheel with audio, climate control, hands-free phone calling and navigation functions; 60/40 fold-down rear bench seat; climate control and dual-compartment glove box among the main features.
